The current stage of our lives is a whirlwind of activity, and in a great way. But it comes at the bitter cost of our dedication to this most superior of blogs. That being said, we are always discovering more music, and you can count on our ultimately unavoidable need to share it with whoever cares to listen.

So in the spirit of celebrating damn good music, I've got some entrancing singers that have recently occupied my obsession. The first is the seductive Lana Del Rey, casually known as Lizzy Grant, whose self described style is that of a "gangsta Nancy Sinatra." She hasn't released a full debut album as of yet, but supposedly that will be rectified in the coming year. For these links, I almost caution against watching the music videos the first time and instead just wrap yourself in her voice. The videos are pretty artsy, which can be distracting while listening to a novel song.

The next artist is Woodkid, born Yoann Lemoine of that teased country we call France. He is actually primarily a film and music video director, having on his resume such works as Katy Perry's "Teenage Dream" and T-Swift's "Back to December." I personally can't comment on his directing prowess, but his recently released singles reveal a seriously soulful voice possessing a rare richness.

I want to start by explaining some changes to the way the site is organized. As you can see, at the bottom of the screen, an embedded music player has popped up! This way you guys can listen to all the songs on here without having to leave the page, with the ability to chose which songs you want to listen to, pop out the music player, etc. To get it started, just click "Click to play all audio posts," and a playlist will pop up. Not to be confused with Mike Tzeng. Who happen to have the same birthday. Crazy. This man goes hard, in pretty much everything that he does except Super Smash Bros. I wanna start off with some pretty sick trance, which I've posted before, but I think is worth bringing up again. Not as intense as Krater of Peak 1.1, but then again, nothing is. Still pretty good.

Audrey Stano.

Raised in the hood of Silver Spring with Matt Sartucci, that neighborhood was rough and you can definitely see it in her attitude. She is one badass girl, and don't tolerate no foolishness from anyone. You can find her on the corner thuggin, chillin with the bad-boy rappers. Most of them are named Max. Essentially, she looks and acts like Kreayshawn. So to her I dedicate this remix of Gucci Gucci.

Also, joking aside, she has a pretty damn good voice. I hope she goes all out singing to this version of a timeless classic.

Annie Jeng.

Probably the most musically gifted person I had the pleasure to meet, she's a great friend and a really nice person in general. If you haven't you should meet her. She's also in love with cute things. She'll squeal when she sees a puppy on the street, etc. So here's a song for you Annie; it features a kid with the cutest voice I can imagine. Now it may or may not be about tripping on copious doses of hallucinogens, but that's irrelevant. I think. In any case, the accompanying music is also very good.

Now, choosing this second song for Annie was pretty damn hard. She loves classical, but she knows way more about that than I ever will, so I don't have anything to offer in that domain. I also send her a lot of music before posting it anywhere, so she also knows a lot of my library. In the end, I ended up with this song, a mashup between Leona Lewis's Collide and Avicii's Fade into Darkness, the later of which I will be posting on its own at a later time due to it's awesomitude.

Wow. It has been quite a while. Like Kyle said, we've been busy, but that's no excuse. We'll always be busy. Just have to be less lazy and make time for this. Much love to him for getting up off his ass and pulling the chair from under the rest of us.

Without further ado, some songs. I've listened to A LOT of music while I've been inactive. I do understand, however, that posting lots of songs per post can be overwhelming and that it would be best to limit it. SO. I'll keep it to 5 songs, try to vary the genre's and see what happens.



I'm gonna start off with one of my favorite songs, Seek Bromance. This song features music from one of my favorite artists, Avicii (aka Tim Berg), but it is not his song per say. Italian DJ Samuele Sartini's Love You Seek ft. Amanda Wilson had it's vocals overlayed and this feel good monster (in my opinion) was born. Enjoy.

While we're listening to female vocals, I just wanted to continue on that track. Tiesto recently made the switch over from trance to almost exclusively house, and even though it's only been a couple of months, he's already shows a lot of promise, and I'm really excited. Featuring Kay, this is definitely a good song to get you in the mood for the weekend.

For a chance of pace, we go to a mellow, semi-depressing yet beautiful song by Florence and the Machine. It's a single that will also be on the upcoming album on November 7th. Don't quite know what it's about, but I'm guessing some sort of drowning/suicide thing. A very emotionally charged song.

Speaking of mellow, here's an awesome song that many of you probably already heard, but that never gets old. Doing what he does best, Deadmau5 (pronounced dead-mouse, ahem) starts off this song with an ambient, minimalist vibe, and proceeds to evolve it into a relaxing trance piece with a great beat and melody.

Finally, a super exciting song. This DJ has some of the best mashups I have ever heard. He's amazing. And surprisingly, every song he makes is free to download at kapslap.com. He also features hour+ continuous mixes of his mashups, which are perfect from leaving on during parties and forgetting about them. This is probably my favorite by him.

We've been busy, lame, and ultimately, lazy.

I apologize, but lets hope these tracks make up for it, at least a little.

Music is important to me because it can directly change my mood. These tracks should hopefully be in an order that goes from a more mellow mood to one that will energize you, and bring a little involuntary dance into your life. I'm going to try and use 8tracks for this, so it's going to be an 8 track minimum post. Here goes.

First up, we have Skylar Grey's Invisible. I love her voice, and the track is beautiful. Nothing more to be said here.

Next we have Howlin' For You by The Black Keys. You've instantly become a smooth operator. You're wearing a nice suit. You're probably playing poker. You're almost certainly winning. There's obviously an attractive person of the opposite sex hanging around you. You're ordering a drink. It's definitely hard liquor.

Moving on is almost a step backwards. It's Invisible again, but this time Miss Grey's song has been amped up by John Dahlback; I don't think it ruins it like some remixes do, just kind of turns a sad observation into a realization that a lot of people feel the same way (happier, too).

Next is a song that takes a while to build up (as do a lot of electro/house songs) but I think it's worth it. Written for his girl Kate, Arty brings us an instrumental song called Kate, showing us that he is, in fact, the cleverest. Can't bash him, though, the song is uplifting, and big.

Nervo. Afrojack. Steve Aoki. Hook N Sling remixed We're All No One and this song maintains that "big" feeling that I love so much. It's those big, synths? I guess that make me just love certain house songs.

We are now at the first of the last 3 songs, all of which I believe should definitely lift your spirits. The first shot of happiness is another John Dahlback remix, specifically of the song Big by Sneaky Sound System (alliteration, anyone? Or is it consonance?)

Tim Berg, also known as Avicii, keeps you floating right on up with his Three Chord Revolution. If you're the type of person who gets simple, yet catchy riffs stuck in your head... You're screwed. Avicii loves messing with those people.

Obviously, I've saved what I view as the best, for last. I loved Coldplay's Every Teardrop is a Waterfall. I've also always been complaining that Swedish House Mafia don't release enough songs. Behold the current mother of all uplifiting house songs, in my humble opinion: SHM's remix of Every Teardrop is a Waterfall.

You better be in a damned good mood. Hell, it's 3 am and I'm basically dancing in my seat.

Coyote Kisses are a duo who have been friends since childhood, both from Lakeland, Florida. They started producing music during the summer of 2008, but then took a break at the end of the summer since they were both heading off to separate colleges. This means that they are almost exactly our ages, and they have produced some of the best electro that I've heard in a while.

This first track is what I *expected* the Daft Punk soundtrack to Tron to sound like. Daft Punk instead turned Hans Zimmer-ish. Coyote Kisses, however, fulfilled my desire with LazerSwag

Thanks to Matt for covering my daily post yesterday. He did a much better job than I usually do, so maybe I'll have to "be really really busy" more often.

The thing about music is that there is an insane amount of it, and there are many good artists/songs out there that, unless you pull in information from others, you will never have the pleasure to hear. Between me Kyle and Matt we listen to a fair bit of music but by no means all of it.


That said, I was recently, uh, collaborating, I guess, with a friend and she reminded me of a song that I had listened to long ago. It's the kind of a song that you listen to and immediately start craving the dance floor; so basically, it's awesome. Also, it's by Steve Aoki, another artist that will be featured at Starscape. If you haven't gotten tickets for Starscape yet, and wanna go.... well you're boned. Tickets are sold out, sorry. Heh.

I realize that a lot of the music that I've been posting has been electro/dub etc. It's NOT all that I listen to, we actually have a quite diverse taste in music, as Kyle and Matt have shown.

On that note, I have a rock song for you! Coming out of Kentucky, but moving to London with their first record deal, they have a very lovely, distinct rasp to their songs that I love. It's a sad song, so be prepared, but I think you'll enjoy it.

In typical indie fashion it deals with what I believe is two kids who have an unplanned pregnancy, and the deep emotional repercussions. Hey, someone has to do a little of the indie thing.

And after I got bored of that, Designer Drugs went and remixed the song in a way that blew my mind. A lot of the remixes that I see are just drums or some extra bass / electro added to a song, or a remix that completely destroy's the songs intended purpose. This remix does what every remix should strive to do, that is keep the aim of the song the same, yet while adding a new take.

Hey everyone, I'm taking over the daily post this evening, and so I thought I'd come up with a few songs for that time of night when we're either falling asleep or should be falling asleep.

First up, for the lonely hearts, we have a song by The Gaslight Anthem, a punk rock group out of New Jersey, called "Here's Looking At You Kid". Not the most upbeat song, but man does it get in my head.

Been in a bit of a music slump the past couple of days, I haven't been able to find anything that appealing to me. Luckily, I've had so much good music in the past that I can just take some off from that bank.

This song is featured in my Sexstep playlist, but because I like it so much I decided to give it a bit of limelight as well. Very upbeat and dirty at the same time, Tinie comes through for us again. Remixed by TC for that extra bass-kick.

Alright y'all, once your heads have exploded from Tino's baller playlist, I've got some music that'll help you cool down and relax. I'm jumping all over the place today, touching on folk again, soft rock, and some blues, so sit back, reflect on your accomplishments, and chill out.

First up is a band that the man-among-men Tino suggested to me, and as usual it turned out to be an excellent find. The band's name is Mount Moriah, they're an indie folk group out of North Carolina that's got a strong Appalachian folk feel. They formed in the past couple years, and just released their first album this past April. Tino's favorite song is Lament, excellent, though mine may be Old Gowns. Here's a few of their best:

One of my favorite artists at the moment is Bon Iver, who I think takes a masterful mix of folk and a blues feeling, and creates some really soulful music. His two favorite songs of mine are "Skinny Love" and "Creature Fear", though in his recordings he abruptly cuts off the end of creature fear. He improvises the end in concert, which makes for an awesome ending. Here are some of his songs, I highly recommend you check out the rest of his stuff.

Kyle first introduced me to John Butler a few years ago, so this next section is courtesy of him. John Butler Trio is a group headed by John Butler, who's been in the music scene for a while now. By far the most important thing to hear from him is "Ocean", a purely instrumental piece that is simply amazing. Take a look at the video below and just watch his hands once he gets going. Plus, he has sweet dreds.

Now that we've gotten that out of the way, here's's the playlist. It has taken a lot of work, but there was more enjoyment in it than work. Every single song there is there for a reason, trust me; a lot of thought went into it. There's a lot of filthy dub, and what isn't really dubstep has very deep basslines that can keep you going slowly while you take a breather (heh :-P)

All you have to do is click on play all, then select shuffle as an option in the bottom right, scroll to the front of the playlist (by clicking on the arrow in the bottom left repeatedly until you cant anymore) and then click on the first song. After that, just sit back and listen.

It's almost 4 hours long, so if you run out of music, you're getting close to the viagra limit and you should take yourself to see a doctor, because either you're inhuman or something very bad is about to happen.

For this playlist in particular, it's very important to listen on something that has very good bass. Just good bass won't cut it. If you have a speaker system with a subwoofer, that is preferable. Most headphones will not do the trick, even if they're pretty good. Also, try to listen to the songs on HD, it makes a huge difference. I will have a folder with all the HD mp3's soon so that you can import them into your music library and turn them into a playlist, but until then, youtube is all we've got.

Today has been an awesome day. Lot's of work that I had to do, but there's something about filtering through hundreds of sweet songs that really makes your day. I'm talking of course of the dubstep playlist going up in the near future. I've got some "power followers" giving it a listen, and based on their feedback, I'll post it soon.

I want to start off by apologizing for my lack of a daily post on Friday, but Matt's post more than made up for it in my opinion. Some really good stuff there, you should all check it out right below this.

Following up on Matt's post, I wanted to share some more acoustic music with you. Don't worry, some electro-y more upbeat stuff will come out in post #11. And so much hardcore dub that I can't wait to unleash upon you, but I'm trying to save it for the mix that I'm gonna make.

First, we've got Ellie Goulding doing an acoustic cover of Heartbeats by The Knife (aka Jose Gonzalez) I know we're used to Goulding being remixed to heavy bass and wobble and such, but this is a very very pretty song. I like it.

A little twang for the soul

As some of you may know, I have a soft spot for folk-rock. I've come up with a bit of an overview of some of my favorite bands, all of which are worth checking out in depth.

First up is Mumford and Sons, an English group who's received a fair amount of attention for their song "Little Lion Man", which Tino posted a while ago. The Band Perry is made up of three siblings from Tennessee, and they just released their first album recently. The most noteworthy song is "If I Die Young", very well written, though I enjoy most of their other stuff. One of us may have a crush on the lead singer, though I would never betray his Greek secret.

Sugarland. Something about them is just...really good. They are closer to the country-rock genre, but I bet you'll enjoy their stuff. I'll admit, I myself have a small crush on the singer of this band.

Whoa. Coming to two full weeks of daily posts.

I want to give a shoutout to Rob Dunn who, through awesomeness, managed to almost double our popularity on his own. Very impressive, and we thank him greatly.

Now, music wise, today's post will be much more mainstream. But good nonetheless.

Rihanna has been doing very well for herself for several years now. Not many artists can continue to dominate the charts like she can. Unfortunately, one of her best songs (in my humble opinion) did not receive the attention that it deserved. With a kickin' Guetta baseline, I think it's a pretty pretty good song. And an interesting music video too.

Next, electo-pop monster Robyn. If you decide to check out her official music video, be sure to be alone in the room. It is definitely not safe for work. As Matt put it, "Did you detect any sexual undertones there? No. None. Just overtones." I'm really not sure how that's allowed to be on youtube at all.
